Based on some feedback received from Henry in my last assignment I was able to go ahead and fine tune some of my materials for my Creative Futures submission.
CV
I took out some sentences and reworded my opening About Me statement to make room for adding to my Experience section. Before, I had Ulster University and my Small Business but I thought of more events in my life that I’ve gained relevant experience from such as; working for a year as a Resident Maker at The Designerie in Bushmills and also how I’ve been working freelance doing commissions on and off for clients. This will be more beneficial to show employers that I work hard and have important skills that would benefit their studios. I also removed my mobile number from the CV due to worries of kids during the End of Year Show calling my mobile. When sending this CV to employers I will come back in and re-add my mobile.
Business Cards
For my business card I went and scrapped the idea of having a cartoon version of myself as the picture in the centre. Instead I spoke to some of my peers and decided it would be more impactful to have Hazel be the face on my Business Card. By doing this it ensures when people look at my business card after the show they’ll know what project it belonged to and remember the work I did. I also sat down and re-did my cards on Photoshop instead of Canva to ensure designs were properly centred and clean. I also used Photoshop as a way to put a true black and white filter over my work and ensure all the values work well together. I removed both my email and mobile number, opting to have only my QR code lead to my website where people will have access to my portfolio and my social media including my email.
Poster
My Poster didn't change much since my final submission. I cleaned up the sketch for a more rendered piece and also figured out the title going on the top of the poster. At first I wanted to use the V-Tuber logo I made, however it looked too cluttered on top of the poster. I made another version of my Logo without some of the assets however this still did not go with the rest of the poster. Instead I just chose the same font used in the Logo and kept it white with a drop shadow to stand out from the background.
Twitch Assets
I was able to finish most if not all of my twitch assets. I cleaned up sketches and rendered them out. My one issue was lack of time nearing the deadline. I had hoped I could have used illustrator to make my assets with clean vectors, however I opted to use Canva to save time and get a quicker output. The only assets not done on Canva was the logo which was a mix of drawing on procreate then assembling on Photoshop and my emotes and sub-badges which were drawn on Procreate. I think the assets came out very well and looked cohesive with the branding of Hazel.
Design Deck
My design deck was also going to be made using Adobe software like InDesign or Illustrator however like my twitch assets, due to time restraints I had to opt for Canva. I also wanted to print a hardback book, however couldn’t afford this and opted for a portfolio display book where I could print my pages at home and slot them in. While this wasn’t the best option it was the most affordable and time-saving way to get my design deck physically ready for the EOYS.
Room Layout
During table set up I sat down with a group of students and helped to organize the layout of the room for our End of Year Show. It was a really rewarding experience to get to help out and finally see the layout come together. For my table set up there's a few bits and pieces I didn't get on time like my cardboard cut outs. My poster also wasn't printed on time nor my business cards, I know for future reference to order these well in advance. I also had to rework my wall a few times to get the gradient right but I think it turned out well in the end.
Final Thoughts
Overall I believe I made quick decisions in the face of time restraints that still ensured the outcomes of my work looked good and ready for my EOYS. I made my work look cohesive with themes, colour palettes and ensured I made a brand for myself. If I had more time I would’ve explored other softwares like inDesign or illustrator to get more customised and clean assets but I made do with what little I had. I believe my work reflects well on my motivation and drive and also stands out well to future employers who may see my work at the EOYS.
